PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY AND TEETH CLEANINGS IN FALLS CHURCH
Preventive dentistry, including teeth cleaning and professional dental exams, are the best way to avoid unnecessary tooth decay. In fact, it’s almost as important as brushing and flossing your teeth daily. You will sure be glad you decided to choose preventative care later in life when you are cavity free.
PREVENTIVE TEETH CLEANING AND DENTAL EXAM
Routine dental care can help our patients avoid unnecessary treatments by pinpointing concerns at early stages. We’ll also give you the information that you need to prevent those problems from occurring in the first place.
Some of the ways we do this are by providing:
COMPREHENSIVE DENTAL EXAMS
Dr. Jones will thoroughly examine your entire smile for signs of wear, tooth decay, oral cancer, and orthodontic irregularities. If you have any concerns, please feel free to ask! We truly believe that finding problems early means less dental care for you later on.
PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY: TEETH CLEANING
Even if you’re great at brushing and flossing, a professional cleaning will remove tartar and plaque buildup from areas that you can’t reach. It also allows us to assess your smile for gum disease – a significant cause of tooth loss. This is by far the best way to avoid a future tooth extraction.
Low radiation digital imaging helps us to screen for complications, cavities, and developmental irregularities.
Our HD intraoral cameras allow us to provide you with an up close tour of your own smile. You’ll see exactly what we see! Dr. Jones feels this is an important step when it comes to helping you make informed choices about your dental care.
If you have problems with clenching, grinding (bruxism,) or chronic headaches, then one of our custom night guards or NTI appliances may be your best option. These custom prostheses limit the amount of tension that your jaws exert, reducing muscle fatigue and pain as you sleep.
If you or your child plays sports, a custom sports guard can help to protect your smile as well as avoid problems like concussions. Even if your team doesn’t require it, a custom-fit guard provides more protection than anything that you can buy over the counter.
All of our pediatric dental patients receive a fluoride treatment after their cleaning and exam. Our adult patients can also benefit from fluoride if they have a history of extensive dental work or high number of cavities.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE A CHECK-UP?
Most of our healthy patients benefit from a cleaning and exam every 6 months. If it’s been longer than that, please call our office today to get your smile back on track! Se habla Español.
